7 maintenance tips to protect your car in a Jeddah summer
Summer temperatures in Jeddah regularly pass 45°C, putting real strain on your engine, battery, tyres and A/C. These are the tips we give our service centre customers every year.
1. Check the cooling system before summer
Check the coolant level and look over the hoses and fan. Old coolant loses its ability to carry heat away, so replacing it roughly every two years protects the engine from sudden overheating.
2. The battery is the first casualty of the heat
Heat speeds up evaporation and terminal corrosion. If your battery is more than two years old, ask for a load test at your next service.
3. Tyre pressure changes with temperature
Check pressures in the morning while the tyres are cold, and use the figure on the driver's door sticker. An over-inflated tyre on hot asphalt is far more likely to fail.
4. Don't neglect the A/C
- Weak cooling is usually low refrigerant or a clogged cabin filter.
- Replace the cabin filter every 15,000 km, or sooner on dusty roads.
5. Use the right oil
Stick to the viscosity your manufacturer recommends and don't stretch the interval — high temperatures break oil down faster.
6. Shield paint and interior from the sun
Park in the shade where you can, use a windscreen sunshade and consider a paint protection coat.
7. Take warning lights seriously
Any warning light — especially temperature and oil — means stop and get it checked. A computer diagnostic finds the cause in minutes.
